The ASICS GEL-Lyte III isn’t celebrating a milestone anniversary anymore, Asics Gel-Lyte III Black but it continues to help the Japanese brand take over pockets of the mainstream sneaker consciousness. For its latest proposition, the split-tongued silhouette has looked to nature for inspiration, specifically nodding to the changing of the seasons, a cultural pastime observed in “the Land of the Rising Sun.”
One ASICS offering indulges in a “Lichen Rock/Edible Moss” color palette to Asics Gel-Lyte III Cream commemorate summer (natsu), while the other evokes darker tones associated with autumn (aki) via a “Watershed Rose/Beet Red” color combination. Each style arrives constructed from high-quality perforated leather and suede paneling; capsule-specific branding and hangtags further nod to the shoes’ special nature.
Merging two fan favorites, ASICS presents its latest GEL-Lyte III in Piedmont Grey and a lighter toned Glacier Grey.The new color-blocked ASICS GEL-Lyte III in Piedmont Grey/Glacier Grey offers a chilling rendition of Asics Gel-Lyte III Grey the classic running sneaker. The soft suede body adopts the Glacier Grey shade and is contrasted with the deeper-toned Piedmont, which is placed on the sneaker’s overlay and laces. A white midsole cuts through the ashy upper and lifts the sneaker into an every-day staple.
First introduced in 1987, the GEL-Lyte silhouette offered athletes bounce and Asics Gel-Lyte Marzipan remarkable movement with its GEL technology, and was later adapted by designer Shigeyuki Mitsui into the GEL-Lyte III. Today, the split-tongue sneaker has been the subject of many collaborations including Concepts’ “Otoro” and more recently, the pastel-infused “Nice Cream” by Nice Kicks.
